Emily Nostro is an outsider artist / beleaguered law student / retired braille teacher / active food pantry volunteer who explores the growing rise of misogyny, nihilism, and fascism through the use of textiles. She employs mediums, such as embroidery and quilting, that are often undervalued and overlooked in modern society. Emily prefers to hand-stitch her embroidery rather than relying on machines in a futile effort to seize the means of her own production to create works of art during her leisure time.
Emily Nostro's work has been featured in the The Sun Sentinel, WLRN, The Miami Herald, WSVN 7 News, and The Miami New Times.
Emily uses her embroidery to air her grievances about the hypocrisies she encounters in her daily life.
Emily is a Florida native who loves to catastrophize about mosquitoes, collapsing condos, and the dissolution of social safety networks.
